Exploitation in Child Beauty Pageants :: Argumentative Persuasive Essays
Exploitation in Child Beauty Pageants It is 600 a.m. on Friday morning, and Sharon is about to awaken her eighteen month old baby, Jessica, to discipline her for a long weekend of make-up, hairspray, and gowns. Jessica is one of the thousands of babies forced into the many childrens beauty pageants each division. Sharon is among the many over-demanding p atomic number 18nts who pressure their young and innocent children into beauty pageants each year and this is wrong.Beauty pageants were started many years ago but became more prominent in the society in 1921, when a hotel owner started a contest to conserve tourists in town past Labor Day. The winner of this contest would be called Miss America. Miss America pageants have been a yearly event incessantly since then, except during the Great Depression. Then, in 1960, pageants were getting so popular that a Little Miss America was started for parents who wanted their children in beauty pageants (Nussbaum).Childrens beauty pageants are judged by the following modeling sportswear and evening wear, how well they dance, and how much talent they have. The children themselves are judged by their looks, how well they perform, and how confident they appear. Approximately 250, 000 children participate in pageants each year. Mothers who have their children in beauty pageants say that their children gain confidence through performing. ADHD and Its Treatments Essay -- ADHD Attention Deficit Essays Disorde
The purpose of this research was to describe and understand Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the most effective treatment options that are operational today. ADHD is a mental health disorder that affects 3-9% of the population in elbow rooms that, if left untreated, can wreak havoc on the mind of the sufferer. It makes assiduousness difficult, large tasks seem insurmountable, and causes impulsive and hyperactive tendencies. Fortunately, research and experiments have led to new and effective treatments to help those who suffer from this disorder (Dupaul 8). This research examined journal articles and earnings sources on the topic to help unlock the complexities of the disorder through scientific research. It also was a way to separate the myths of the disorder from the truths, while discovering the causes, diagnosis methods, and best treatment alternatives to battle this prevalent disorder. In 1902, a physician by the name of Sir George F. published a series of lectures to the Royal College of Physicians in England in which he described a group of impulsive children with significant behavioral problems, caused by a genetic dysfunction and not by poor child nurture?children who today would be easily recognized as having ADHD (NIMH 1). Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder or (ADHD) is a developmental disorder characterized by distractibility, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and an inability to remain rivet on tasks or activities. ADHD afflicts an estimated 3-9% of children, with symptoms usually appearing by the age of seven. Some key characteristics of the disorder include a soul who ?Is easily disconcert by events occurring around them ?Puts off anything that requires a sustained mental effort?Appears not to listen when spoken to?Shows a repeated failure to finish tasks?Has a difficulty staying still?Shows difficulty in organizing activitiesThese symptoms prove to be particularly challenging to children and adolescents. Although they may be quite intelligent, their lack of focus frequently results in poor grades and difficulty in school. Children and adolescents with ADHD tend to act impulsively, without addressing the consequences of their actions until it is too late. Their attention spans are much shorter than most children?s are, thus they become world-weary easily and frustrated with ... ...performed by the NIMH to support the assertions that genetic disposition and neurobiology were possible causes of ADHD. Their experiment studied 152 boys and girls with ADHD, and matched with 139 age- and gender-matched controls without ADHD. The children?s brains were scanned at least twice, some as some as four times over a decade. From the documentation, this appears to be a reliable experiment because of the gender and age matched control group.3. Is there an alternative way to interpret the evidence? In my opinion and in my observations in my life, the evidence clearly points to a strong correlation between genet ics and a person?s chance of having ADHD. I have also had friends with ADHD whose parents exhibit similar symptoms.4. What additional studies would help evaluate the alternatives?I think that if genetic and neurobiological studies are conducted, the researcher should randomize the age groups tested, and continue their research as a long-term study.5. What conclusions are most reasonable? The conclusion drew was that to a greater extent research needs to be conducted to before drawing an absolute conclusion that genetics and neurobiology determine the patterns of ADHD
An Overview of Capital Punishment Essay -- Argumentative Persuasive Es

Many people feel that ifsomeone murders another person, then he too deserves to be killed. Butmurdering another person wont bring the other one back, and two wrongs dontmake a right. Corporate Wars Essay
Corporate war is the war between opponent firms who compete with each other for greater market sh be. There be always 2 groups mingled in a corporate war and they are The stigma club and the competitors. Whenever there is competition the first thing the station comp some(prenominal) does is to develop its trade plans based on what they think their opponent go forth do. The companies formulate two strategies * The first being their opening move* The posterior moves are based on the competitors strategyBut in any case the companys success depends upon how well they complot their marketing strategies. To do this effectively a company must carefully study its competitors as well as its say-so and actual customers. Besides this the company must also identify its feeblenesses. The company should also decide as to which competitor should be ardoured and which one to be keep offed. According to Philip Kotler* Poor firms ignore their competitors* fairish firms copy their compe titors* Winning firms lead their competitorsMarketing warfare strategies are a type of strategies, used in tune and marketing, that try to draw parallels between business and warfare, and then apply the principles of military strategy to business situations. In business we do non have enemies, but we do have competitors and we do not fight for land, but we do compete for market share. Types of marketing warfare strategies-Offensive marketing warfare strategies They are strategies designed to obtain some objective, commonly market share, from a target competitor. In addition to market share, an offensive strategy could be designed to obtain key customers, high margin market segments, or high loyalty market segments. underlying principles-1. Assess the strength of the target competitor2. Find a weakness in the targets position. Attack at this point.3. Launch the blast on as narrow a front as possible. Whereas a defender must defend all their borders, an attacker has the benefit of being able to concentrate their forces at one bulge.4. Launch the attack rapidly.Types of offensive marketing warfare strategies-* Frontal Attack This is a direct hostile assault. It commonly involves marshaling all your resources including a substantial financial commitment. All parts of your company must be geared up for the assault from marketing to production. It usually involves intensive advertising assaults and often entails developing a new product that is able to attack the target competitors line where it is strong. It often involves an attempt to publish a sizable portion of the targets customer base. * Envelopment Strategy (also called encirclement strategy) This is a much broader but subtle offensive strategy. It involves encircling the target competitor. This can be done in two ways. You could introduce a range of products that are similar to the target product. Each product will liberate some market share from the target competitors product, leaving it weake ned, demoralized, and in a state of siege. If it is done stealthily, a full scale opponent can be avoided. Alternatively, the encirclement can be based on market niches rather than products. * Leapfrog strategy -This strategy involves bypassing the enemys forces altogether. In the business arena, this involves either developing new technologies, or creating new business models. This is a revolutionary strategy that re-writes the rules of the game. The introduction of compact disc technology bypassed the effected magnetic tape based defenders. The attackers won the war without a single costly battle. This strategy is in truth effective when it can be realized.Defensive marketing warfare strategies They are a type of marketing warfare strategy designed to protect a companys market share, profitability, product positioning, or mind share. Fundamental principles-1. Always counter an attack with equal or greater force. 2. Defend every important market. 3. Be forever vigilant in scanni ng for potential attackers. Assess the strength of the competitor. 4. The best defensive measure is to attack yourself. Attack your weak spots and rebuild yourself anew. 5. Defensive strategies should be the easy lay domain of a function of the market leader The main types of defensive marketing warfare strategies are- * Position defence mechanism This involves the defense of a fortified position. This tends to be a weak defense because you become a sitting duck. It can lead to a siege situation in which time is on the side of the attacker, that is, as time goes by the defender gets weaker, while the attacker gets stronger. In a business context, this involves setting up fortifications such as barriers to market entry almost a product, brand, product line, market, or market segment. This could accept increasing brand equity, customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, or repeat purchase rate. It could also include exclusive distribution contracts, patent protection, market monopo ly, or government protected monopoly status. * Mobile defense This involves constantly shifting resources and developing new strategies and tactics. A mobile defense is intended to create a moving target that is hard to successfully attack, while simultaneously, equipping the defender with a flexible response mechanism should an attack occur. In business this would entail introducing new products, introducing replacement products, modifying existing products, changing market segments, changing target markets, repositioning products, or changing promotional focus. This defense requires a very flexible organization with strong marketing, entrepreneurial, product development, and marketing research skills. * Counter offensive This involves countering an attack with an offense of your own. If you are attacked, retaliate with an attack on the aggressors weakest point. Flanking marketing warfare strategies They are a type of marketing warfare strategy designed to minimize confrontationa l losses. Fundamental principles-1. Avoid areas of likely confrontation. A flanking move always occurs in an uncontested area. 2. Make your move quickly and stealth fully. The element of surprise is worth to a greater extent than a thousand tanks. 3. Make movesthat the target will not find threatening enough to respond decisively to. The main types of flanking marketing warfare strategies are- * Flanking Attack This is designed to pressure the flank of the enemy line so the flank turns inward. You make gains while the enemy line is in chaos. In doing so, you avoid a head-on confrontation with the main force. The wrong with a flanking attack is that It can draw resources away from your center defense, making you vulnerable to a head-on attack. In business terms, a flanking attack involves competing in a market segment that the target does not consider mission critical. The target competitor will not be as concerned about your activities if they occur in market niches that it conside rs peripheral. * Flanking Position This involves the re-deployment of your resources to deter a flanking attack. You strengthen your flank if you think it is vulnerable. The disadvantage of this defense is that it can distract you from your primary objective and siphon resources away from where they are needed most. In business terms, this involves the introduction of new products, product lines, or brands, the defensive re-positioning of existing products, or additional promotional activity in a market niche. It requires market segmentation and/or product differentiation. You protect against potential loss of market share in a segment by strengthening your competitive position there.* Guerrilla marketing warfare strategies They are a type of marketing warfare strategy designed to wear-down the enemy by a long series of minor attacks. Rather than engage in study battles, a guerrilla force is divided into small groups that selectively attacks the target at its weak points. To be e ffective, guerrilla teams must be able to treat between strikes. They can disappear into the remote countryside, or blend into the general population. The general form of the strategy is a sequence of attacking, retreating, and hiding, repeated multiple times in series. It has been say that Guerrilla forces never win wars, but their adversaries often lose them.Strengths-1. Because you never attack the enemys main force, you preserve your resources. 2. It is very flexible and can be adapted to any situation, offensive or defensive. 3. It is very difficult to counter with conventional methods.Baskin-Robbins is an American global ice filling parlor based in Canton, Massachusetts. By 1960, Mr. Mattus, supported by his wife Rose, decided to form a new company dedicated to his ice cream vision. He called his new brand Haagen-Dazs, to convey an aura of the old-world traditions and craftsmanship to which he remained dedicated. Haagen-Dazs ice cream started out with only three flavors vanilla, chocolate, and coffee . But Mr. Mattus passion for quality soon took him to the four corners of the globe. His droll ice cream recipes included dark chocolate from Belgium and hand-picked vanilla beans from Madagascar, creating distinctive and indulgent taste experiences. The Haagen-Dazs brand quickly developed a loyal following. Its early success was created by word of mouth and praise. Without the benefit of advertising, the story of an incredibly rich and creamy confection short-circuit rapidly. At first, it was only available at gourmet bring outs in New York City, but soon distribution expanded throughout the east coast of the U.S., and by 1973 Haagen-Dazs products were enjoyed by discerning customers throughout the United States. In 1976, Mr. Mattus daughter Doris opened the first Haagen-Dazs Shop. It was an immediate success, and its popularity led to a rapid expansion of Haagen-Dazs Shops across the country. In 1983 Mr. Mattusagreed to sell the Haagen-Dazs brand to The Pillsbury Company, which remained committed to the tradition of superior quality and innovation on which Haagen-Dazs ice cream was founded. The same careful attention to quality that Reuben Mattus built into every Haagen-Dazs product remains today.Ice cream lovers the world over now recognize the unique Haagen-Dazs logo as synonymous with the ultimate super-premium ice cream. From the beginning, Haagen-Dazs ice cream has sought to innovate and bring new frozen dessert experiences to its customers, including distinctive flavors such as vanilla swiss almond, butter pecan, and dulce de leche, to name just a few. Haagen-Dazs was also the first to introduce the world to ice cream bars for a grown-up palate, with the introduction of the Haagen-Dazs brand ice cream bar line in 1986. Other super-premium innovations followed, with frozen yogurt in 1991 and sorbet in 1993.To this day, the Haagen-Dazs brand remains committed to developing excep tional new super-premium frozen dessert experiences, releasing new flavors every year. Mattus invented the Danish sounding Haagen-Dazs as a tribute to Denmarks exemplary treatment of its Jews during the Second World War and included an outline map of Denmark on early labels. The name is not Danish, which has incomplete an umlaut nor a digraph zs, and it has no meaning. Mattus thought that Denmark was known for its dairy products and had a positive image in the U.S. His daughter Doris Hurley reported in the phosphate buffer solution documentary An Ice Cream Show (1999) that her father sat at the kitchen table for hours saying nonsensical words until he came up with a combining he liked. The reason he chose this method was so that the name would be unique and original The ice cream comes in many different flavors and is a super-premium brand, meaning it is quite dense (very little air is mixed in during manufacture), uses no emulsifiers or stabilizers other than egg yolks, and has hig h butterfat content. Haagen-Dazs is also meant to be unploughed at a temperature that is substantially lower than most ice creams in order to keep its intended firmness. It is sold both in grocery stores and in dedicated retail outlets serving ice cream cones, sundaes, and so on. In 1980, Haagen-Dazs unsuccessfully sued Frusen Gldj, an American ice cream maker, whose name without the acute focus is Swedish for frozen delight, for using similar foreign branding strategies. Haagen-Dazs was bought by Pillsbury in 1983. General Millsbought Pillsbury in 2001. However, in the United States and Canada, Haagen-Dazs products are produced by Nestl subsidiary Dreyers, which acquired the rights as part of the General Mills-Pillsbury deal. The brand name is still owned by General Mills but is licensed to Nestl in the US and Canada. To offset increasing costs of their ingredients and the delivery of the product, Haagen-Dazs announced that in January 2009 it would be reducing the size of their ice cream cartons in the US from 16 US fl oz (470 ml) to 14 US fl oz (410 ml).Additionally they announced that in March 2009 they would be shrinking the 32 US fl oz (950 ml) container to 28 US fl oz (830 ml). The technique is credited to Albert Humphrey, who led a convention at the Stanford Research Institute in the 1960s and 1970s using data from Fortune 500 companies* Strengths Characteristics of the business or project that burst it an advantage over others * Weaknesses Are characteristics that place the team at a disadvantage relative to others * Opportunities External elements that the project could exploit to itsadvantage * Threats External elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business or projectIdentification of SWOTs is important because they can inform later steps in planning to come across the objective. First, the decision makers should consider whether the objective is attainable, given the SWOTs. If the objectiv e is not attainable a different objective must be selected and the process repeated. Users of SWOT analysis need to ask and answer questions that generate meaningful information for each category (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) to make the analysis useful and find their competitive advantage. The aim of any SWOT analysis is to identify the key internal and external factors that are important to achieving the objective. These come from within the companys unique value chain. SWOT analysis groups key pieces of information into two main categories Internal factors The strengths and weaknesses internal to the organization. External factors The opportunities and threats presented by the external environment to the organization. The internal factors whitethorn be viewed as strengths or weaknesses depending upon their effect on the organizations objectives. What may represent strengths with respect to one objective may be weaknesses for another objective. The factors may include all of the 4Ps as well as personnel, finance, manufacturing capabilities, and so on. The external factors may include macroeconomic matters, technological change, legislation, and socio-cultural changes, as well as changes in the market or competitive position. The results are often presented in the form of a matrix. SWOT analysis is just one method of categorization and has its own weaknesses. For example, it may tend to persuade its users to compile lists rather than to think about what is actually important in achieving objectives. It also presents the resulting lists uncritically and without clear prioritization so that, for example, weak opportunities may appear to balance strong threats. It is prudent not to eliminate too quickly any candidate SWOT entry. The importance of individual SWOTs will be revealed by the value of the strategies it generates. A SWOT item that produces valuable strategies is important.A SWOT item that generates nostrategies is not important. The usefulness of SWOT analysis is not limited to profit-seeking organizations. SWOT analysis may be used in any decision-making situation when a desired end-state (objective) has been defined. Examples include non-profit organizations, governmental units, and individuals. SWOT analysis may also be used in pre-crisis planning and preventive crisis management. SWOT analysis may also be used in creating a recommendation during a viability study/survey. Some findings from Menon et al. (1999) and Hill and Westbrook (1997) have shown that SWOT may harm performance. Other complementary analyses have been proposed, such as the Growth-share matrix.

Disastrous Consequence
In life, we encounter circumstances wherein we gave our all but we continue to fail. Our idealistic expectations were shattered by the realization that sometimes we cannot control our actions even if it was aimed for our psyche betterment. In the end, the question remains to be on how we are going to address these hurdles and challenges facing us. The ability to recover and stand up patronage these setbacks remains to be the ultimate goal for everyone.Looking back, there was one experience that disappointed me because I had ideal expectations towards a particular project that I had made. It happened when our teacher provided a topic for us to write about. This research shall be huge component for our research. I really need a good grade to comfort out a good performance in the end. Due to this, we were allowed to choose a topic of our choice and relate it towards the lessons that were taught during the first half of the class. In addition to these, the specialised details and objec tives were given three weeks before submission. In a nutshell, the topic was my specialization since I had spent numerous times working on that issue. Moreover, I had gathered sufficient references that can guide me towards the process of musical composition. Since I really need a high grade for this radical, I made contact with the professor occasionally to inform her about my updates. Lastly, I was able to finish it one week in advance. That was why I had the chance to proofread and analyze the paper for errors. However, when the grades turned out, I was disappointed when I saw that my grade was not up to my expectations. In addressing this, I went to my professor and asked her the reason I got the grade. She indicated that I was also focused on creating a paper based on the idea that I know and failed to appropriately link it towards the subject. I felt bad on this because I had the opportunity to consult with her. But I used this experience as a learning opportunity for me to enhance and improve on my writing skills so next time I wont achieve the same results.

The Relationship between amount of sleep and reaction time
In addition, there have been many catastrophic events in the world caused by lack of sleep or fatigue in certain situations. These include the disaster of Coherency, the Challenger explosion In 1986 and the Exxon Valued oil spill, many claim, were caused by lack of sleep and fatigue. The employees at Coherency were overworked, working 13 hours or more. The pilots of the Challenger had a significant lack of sleep and the oil spill caused by the workers working over 22 hours per day. Furthermore, these catastrophic events are all that could be affected or prevented with a quick response prison term. Therefore, could the fatigue and lack of sleep have led to long-playing reaction times ca employ these events to occur or was it a nonher variable that the fatigue caused? I wonder if there is a relationship between gist of sleep and reaction time. Plan To find out the relationship between amount of sleep and reaction time, if there is one, I will be using two different type of investiga tion. Firstly, I will be doing some of the investigation myself by taking a type from my year host and having them fill out a test.In addition to that, I will also be corroborateting results from other studies, Investigations and advertises on the same experiment as the results would be more bona fide and varied. For my own Investigation, since I am comparing, It Is difficult to have certain independent or dependent variables. However, since I am seeing how amount of sleep affects reaction time, as my independent variable, I will use the amount of sleep measured in hours and I will be using the reaction time measured in seconds. I will obtain the amount of sleep by asking the people within the archetype and I will get the reaction time by having the sample take a free online test. For this investigation, I will be using convenience sampling since the investigation has a very small time limit and I will not have any resources available to investigate on a larger sample or to do sample which is outside of this sample. Therefore these results are quite un time-tested since It Is only done on a very small group and It Is only convenience sampling so It only takes Into account a very small group of people in a certain location. This Is why I will also be using other Investigations, papers and studies to get more reliable and accurate entropy.I will have a sample of 15 people from etc. To find more reliable, accurate and more varied selective information. Once I have collected the results, I will first off create a table out of the raw information to simply take down the results. Then, I will create a processed info able to make it easier to create graphs. Then I will work out averages for the reaction times and amount of sleep making them into box and fuzz plots. Then, I will create a scatter graph to compare both my variables. I believe that the results will be that the amount of sleep has a very large influence over ones reaction time. This selection was purely reliability and credibility of the source as the 2 most credible and reliable sources were chosen for the data and information. The first source was the paper Effect of Total Sleep Deprivation on Reaction Time and Waking EGG practise in Man by the American Sleep Disorders Association and Sleep Research Society, written by l. Lorenz, J. Ramose, C. Race, M. A. Guava and M. Coors-Caber. The second paper was by Mitch Leslie for the Stanford report with the name Sleep impacts reaction time as overmuch as alcohol. Both of these sources gave information such as averages, graphs and conclusions with some analysis but did not give the raw data. Therefore, some of this processed data could be misleading and could be biased. In addition, the data that these sources give are quite different compared to the data given from my investigations. This would mean that my results are probably unreliable as it was conducted on a very small group, none of the variables were changed so there was not much variety and the results were mostly inaccurate. In addition, there are some missing values especially for the time some people went to the estimated hours of sleep they had gotten. I will call this as all the other values although if they seem like outliers on a graph, it would be because they are inaccurate. To analyses, I will group the data and information by source treating them differently. Overall, I believe that I have enough data to analyses and to create a inclusion since I have the data I have collected and the information from the other studies.

An Analysis of Roberto Matta’s “Eat Us Sir Fire, Eat Us”
UNIVERSITY OF NAMIBIA RESEARCH METHODS FOR VISUAL humanistic discipline ANALYSIS OF A PAINTING YANA JAEGER 201124351 DUE DATE 15 MARCH 2013 The purpose of this paper is to harness a painting, describe it and analyse the baste. The structure of this assignment will be as follows in gradeation about(predicate) the artificer, an overall description of the piece and a detailed analysis. For the conclusion, I shall attempt to interpret the work and cook my personal views. The artwork I have selected is a painting done by Roberto Matta, titled polish off Us Sir Fire, Eat Us. Roberto Matta was born in Chile, Santiago 1911, and died in Italy, Civitavecchia 2002.Many artists influenced this painter, such as Dali, Duchamp, Picasso and Tanguy. The brainchild for his paintings and subject matter came from mythology, cosmology and microscopic images. Mattas subject matter usually included paranoid visions of technology gone amuck, themes of Man versus Machine, otherworldly landscapes, ali en beings involved in various unexplainable activities, conflict, amorousness and whimsical fantasy. However, several of his works can be categorised as inscapes. Inscapes is a word created by two other words (also known as a portmanteau) interior and landscape. This conveys some idea of the artists psyche and state of mind. Basically, inscapes show what the artists mind would look like if it were splashed onto a canvas. Matta officially joined the Surrealist Movement in 1937. He was well-known as a Biomorphic Surrealist painter. For clearing Surrealism was A 20th Century movement in art and literature aiming at expressing the subconscious mind. (The epigrammatic Oxford Dictionary 8th Edition, 1990, p. 1228) This movement was divided into two styles Naturalistic and Biomorphic Surrealism.Biomorphic Surrealism can be described as natural occurring patterns or shapes indicative of nature. The images argon usually not recognisable, unless sometimes they can be represented by cells or morphing shapes. Eat Us Sir Fire, Eat Us is an oil painting on canvas, created in 1988. The scale is rather large due to the fact Matta was also inspired by Mexican Muralists, his work tended to be metres in size. It is in a landscape format, thus having a rectangular shape. The central point is in the stinkpot left corner where one can see two animal-like figures and peradventure a human figure, holding a jug/vase, standing behind them.Above these figures there is a intelligent yellow dot, possibly representing the sunshine or a spark. In the middle is the fire, but it is not intelligibly recognisable. The only clue to knowing it is the fire is the bright red paint mixed within the shapes and patterns. In the centre right, one can see two feline-type figures facing the fire. The art elements I shall be use to analyse this piece are line, form, tone, colour, composition, style and emotion. Matta apply both black and white lines in his artwork. He used them to outline his figures and create random shapes and patterns. The lines are very clear, juxtaposed, some are thin, some are thick and he also incorporated both straight and curved lines. Most of the straight lines virtuoso the eye to the figures in the left bottom corner. There are a variety of small forms with a few dispersed larger forms in this image. The forms are angular and curved and slightly broken, similar to the cubistic style. The larger forms are placed on either side of the canvas with the smaller forms/shapes placed assemble together in the centre. Matta was famous for using vivid and bright acidic colours in his work. This piece is no different. He used bright red, yellow, acerbic commons, orange, a bit of brown, black and white. Red and orange was used for the fire in the centre, yellow for the sky in the top row and left column (Golden Section), green in the right column and bottom row (also Golden Section), black shadows in the entire bottom and centre rows, white for the smok e in the top row and the figures on the left, and lastly brown in the left bottom corner on the rabbit-sort figure. The tones are quite dark, mainly in the bottom and centre where the black shadows are seen, with a bit of lighter tones on the animal figures and the sky.The composition is well equilibrise due to the placement of the colours and figures. The position of the animals on the sides and the fire in the centre creates a ternary panelled part in the image. The two Golden Sections created by the yellow and green, creates a sort of diagonal division from the top right corner to the left bottom corner. The lightness of the sky creates a division from the darkness of the earth on the bottom two rows. Clearly Matta used the Golden Grid Rule in this artwork. Mattas style is very abstract and biomorphic.Nothing is really recognisable, but one is only given a sense of what is going on in this image. At first, sense of smellings of panic, chaos, urgency, angst and heat are gener ated from this artwork, but on closer inspection, one feels a sense of calm, warmth and amazement. I feel a sense of emergency created by the fire and its close proximity to the animals, fearing for their safety. However, I also feel a sense of awe and band from the animals staring into the fire, as if waiting for something. Possibly the fire is so beautiful that the animals do not feel the need to run a focusing from it.They are all facing towards it, felling no fear. They could be looking at it admirably, or in wonder, transfixed. It reminds me of the Native Americans, the way they huddle near a fire while the sun sets, telling each other stories. It especially reminds me of the theatrics of the medicine-man, who flings dust into the fire creating sparks and heavy smoke, and then ghostly images form in the flames and smoke. This is a form of fortune-telling, to create assurance and set the peoples minds at ease, but this is also used to advise the people to remain aware and head the warnings. In the title, Matta calls the fire Sir. This could have been his way of ordaining that the fire has a higher status and should be respected. It portrays the fire as noble and honourable. flush though the fire seems as if it is out of control, the animals and human look at it intently, and do not bucket along in the opposite direction. This blends well with the title Eat Us, meaning that they are willing to be consumed by the fire. It is possible that this image could be erotic in some way. Dreaming of animals usually represents the imperceptible animalistic tendencies of the dreamer, and fire symbolises passion, desire and sex.It could be conceivable that Matta was trying to portray an animalistic love or lust in humans, and we have a subconscious desire to be consumed by it. We secretly yen to become wild, be devoured by lust, have sex with no attachments and do it for the physical pleasure alone. A very Freudian way of interpreting this painting, I think. Yet pe rhaps Matta was only trying to say that one should not be afraid of the fire, rather respect and be in awe of it. just now what does the fire represent? Itself, or something deeper and more psychological? All in all, this is a very gaudy and chaotic piece. It leaves many questions in ones mind, but that is what makes Mattas work so enticing trying to figure out what he was thinking and what he may have revealed about himself, change the canvas with landscapes of mystery and obscurity. Customer Service and Data Warehouse
Liu, An Chi (Allison) 20, Truong, Dominic 31 Tseng, Chun Yao (Gary) 33, Wang, Wei (Chloe) 35 Wang, Zhuoqun (Mask) 36, Zhang, Tao (Kevin) 48 Professor Kim MGT 205 Assignment 5 ITs About Business 3. 2 1. wherefore was it necessary for the Isle of Capri Casinos to develop a data storage warehouse? The Isle of Capri Casinos experienced challenges in the geographical location of their properties as well as their diverse clientele. This made it very difficult for the publicly traded gambling company to segment customers and to establishing an inclusive brand image. With that, the company caters to a variety of customers in Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, and Florida. They found the past(a) Customer Relationship Management (CRM) model to have generalized their customer view, thus initiating a contain for a single view of the logical argument and the customer. This bare-ass database warehouse method would enhance their emulous strategy by encouraging continuous gue st relationships and surpassing guests needs and expectations in terms of atmosphere. 2. disclose the variety of benefits that the Isle realized from its data warehouse. There are many benefits for Isle in the development of their new data warehouse. Firstly, the system quickly and conveniently allowed the company to establish segmentation within the market. The system identify segments centered on the number of visits, which ultimately determined the level of offers and values. Eg. Company researchers determined that players who visit quadruple times a month required an alternative incentive package that those who visited once a month. The company was also able to interpret the data generated by the warehouse to develop information for market experiments. The serial publication of segmentations allowed for cross tabulation within customers Who stayed at least two or three times? Who gamed and who didnt? How much did staying in a hotel affect customers gaming activity? The determina tion of these experiments created business opportunities within demographics of consumers. One study showed that local customers game more when they stay in the casino hotel. done this experiment, a local promotion was established to encourage customers to stay one free night. In turn, this proved to be internetable in the precision of their targeted offers, consequently motivating customers to visit the companys casino locations. Lastly, some other benefit from the database warehouse was in the strategic determination of slots and game locations. The company could enhance revenue and profit by strategically placing new games and machines based on past behaviors from high-value players. All in all, the data warehouse serves as a valuable resource for market analysis and customer segmentation.

Pride of Baghdad
Saddam ibn Talal Hussein The Power is down Pride of Baghdad, drawn by Brian K. Vaughan and Niko Henrichon, tells a story of group of lions escaping from the zoo later the U. S. troops starts invading Baghdad. In order to show how cruel essences that the war brings, the authors try to portray serviceman by drawing the lions, the raise, and other animals. Due to its gorgeous drawing style and its concise dialogues, the novel wholly has 100 rapscallions but contains various meanings. In 2003, the Iraq war was triggered because of Husseins violent suppression on the people, who have their own governmental views, but also his possession of the large amount of illegal weapons. The novel not only presents the consequence of dictatorship, but also satirizes the interference of U. S. army because the public opinion says that the reason of U. S. involving the war is impure since no evidence has been found to prove that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. The main purpose of U. S. arm y invading is the oil resources in Iraq however, by coincidence, Hussein is on the reign, which causes the U.S. s excuse to invade. In this book, the authors stand at Bagdads civilians point of view to tell the story until they get shot by the U. S. army. More specifically, a bit scene amid the lions and the weather is not interpreted as the surface meaning but is created because the authors regard to embody that even though the civilians overthrown the author of Hussein, the U. S. army is the one who eventually takes over their government power and causes the war. The lions and the bear both represent the civilians and Saddam Hussein.Towards almost the end of the story, referring to a specific page, a bear who shows up trying to block the lions way to freedom says Dont get up(where the pages background is the huge bear standing up with Noor and Safa tone up). The authors purposely creates a lusus naturae black bear when the story almost reaches the end to show the power that Hussein holds during the his presidency. By looking at the expression on the bears face, readers can clearly see the anger finished its bloody eyes and sharp teeth with opening mouth. The shrewdest part of this graphic novel is its drawing style, utilise animals to portray humans. Throughout the idea of visual images, when readers first look at the bear, a sense of apprehension is emitted from its giant black body however, the lions, comparing the size with the bear, argon much weaker. The authors apply not only the visualized details, but also the literal ones in every single character. For instance, the names of the bear and the lions who is prisoned, Fajer and Rashid are both originated from Arabic language, which is also the official language in Iraq.Fajer means wicked and Rashid means justifiedly guided, which are opposite to each other however, the justice cant beat down the grievous since Fajer already kills Rashid. According to the previous page, the authors purposely us e special-effects lettering, a method of drawing attention to text of highlighting the words, on some of the words while the bear is speaking, PET, HIS, FAJER, and MAN(the page where the bear first shows up with only its eyes and mouth). The PET represents the weakness of the justice under Husseins dictatorship, and oppositely, the MAN of the house implies the formidable power that Hussein holds. In addition, in order to describe the struggle between good and evil, the authors use graphic weight to focus on the drawing of colors between the bear and lions, which are black and white.Even thought this particular page only contains one panel, it really embodies the representations between the civilians who are under suppressed and Saddam Hussein. Nonetheless, as the story reaches the end, the lions successfully kill the bear, but the U. S. army shot all of the lions. The authors are trying to indicate the idea of how the civilians play the most important fictitious character during th e war. Millions of lives are lost because of the war, and most of them are innocent civilians.

Special Education Lecture Notes
Ensuring good Practices in the Delivery of Positive Behavior Introduction Ethics refers to questions of right and wrong. honest professional pay within the empyrean of education ultimately relates to the potential to cause harm (or benefit) to the student. honourable conduct requires that the practitioner stay within the bounds of the estimable procedures developed for the discipline that the individual is practicing. estimable conduct standards are based in common sense (in regards to potential harm to individuals/student) as well as cumulative knowledge, formalized as codes and standards developed by professional groups within the field that is not endlessly obvious as a potential cause/source of harm. This information describes the ethical standards of conduct, elaborated as general themes, as they relate to behaviour interventions. The Nine Organizing Themes for Understanding Ethical Practices Several professional field have codes of ethics related to conduct with childr en who have behavioral needs. In addition, there is still debate regarding how to persuade the behavior of children, but Figure 3-1 of textbook (Wheeler & Rickey, 2009), summarizes the key elements that underpin ethical practice in the field of behavior management. The nine themes in Figure 3-1 are probably more powerful than reading codes of ethics because they strike at the essential core of what is really required to prevent harm and to foster tyrannical outcome for students. It is important to internalize these themes because the understanding of these themes provides an excellent guide toward the right action in or so situations involving maladaptive behavior as well as in the throw of behavior plans. Behavior Interventions and Ethical Standards of Conduct Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) is very consistent with the ethical themes depict in Figure 3-1 in the textbook (Wheeler & Rickey, 2009). Note the consistencies of PBS in relationship to several of the nine themes of ethi cs. The Functional Behavior sagaciousness (FBA) is a tool for determining the functional need of a behavior.PBS is proactive in the thoughtful design of behavioral environments and specifically considers the uniqueness of the individual. This includes planning with child and family involvement, including family cultural set. PBS strives to maintain student achievement in the most inclusive (and natural) setting possible, where the school maintains the responsibility for creating the environment for success. PBS is bear on slightly future independence for the student, with efforts to maintain natural consequences, as they are more relevant than artificial wages systems.PBS is concerned with using positive interventions realizing that punishment does little to teach adaptive or pro-social behavior. Finally, PBS is concerned about quality of life for the student. To this end, there is also an attempt to develop student skills and attitudes that will promote their future adaptabi lity to life. In other words, ideally behavior change should be durable and lasting as well as socially significant. It should have relevance across the natural settings students will encounter. Professional Organizations Standards for Ethical PracticeProfessional groups develop ethical codes to guide the practitioners in their discipline/ field but also to reflect the groups values and mission. As such, each organization has some distinct values that they emphasize. The National Education Association (NEA) is commit to the advancing the cause of public education. This theme is reflected in an emphasis on the magnitude of responsibility inherent in the profession of teaching, particularly the obligation teachers have toward their students. Much of the NEA ethical code specifies proper teacher-student conduct. The acquirement First Alliance (LFA) has the mission of improving learning for students, particularly in relationship to academic achievement. The sought after outcomes are broad-based and as such, there is an emphasis on fostering school environments that are safe and substantiative of learning, including a systematic approach to supporting positive behavior. The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the organization charged with improving the educational outcome for individuals with exceptionalities/disabilities. The CEC code of ethics is specific to special education professionals. The Council for Children With Behavior Disorders (CCBD) is the largest division of the CEC and focuses on children/ younker with behavioral and emotional problems. All the above organizations support, in some general fashion, systematic approaches to maintaining positive behavior and fostering quality of life potential for students. Conclusion Educational professional organizations have their own ethical codes and standards specific to their targeted aims, but an analysis of each organization reveals that all of them hold core values described within the nine themes d iscussed above. As can be seen from the codes, standards, and principles of the various educational organizations, behavior and discipline are a significant focus of ethical concern, from the level of the individual student to the level of school-wide discipline. As ethics basically relates to whether professional intervention causes harm or benefit to the student, there is also the critical need to mensurate treatment methods for efficacy (effectiveness).Evidence-based treatment should be the goal of behavior therapy whenever possible. It is an ethical obligation of educators to be alive(predicate) of the optimum methods for intervention as well as to maintain a level of training to tool the intervention with fidelity (ensuring strategies are implemented as intended). Women and Human rights Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Women and Human rights - Essay ExampleThere be unlike types of veils that are raddled by discordant people, which entail scuffs covering the hair, those covering the face and those covering the face and the entire body. In most of the Muslim countries, wearing of veils by women is mandatory, while in others, it is mandatory (White 46-55). Since America is represented by people from different cultural backgrounds, wearing of veils is mostly sight among the Muslims. Therefore, mandatory wearing of veils among women is discriminatory in nature. This is because the way of association and dressing of these women is structured and failure to celebrate the stipulated doctrines leads to various consequences among the offenders. For example, In Afghanistan, women who do non wear veils are stoned, as a way of punishing them and warning anyone who may fail to follow the law. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of how American view people who wears veils, and womens human rights. In the United States of America, in that respect have been numerous conflicts between government organs and women wearing veils. For example, in the application of a ride license, the face of the applicants should be visible. As such, women wearing veils are required to get rid of the veils in rules of order to have their photos taken. This does not trick very well to them and makes them feel oppressed. In the American education system, photographs are necessary for verification purposes especially during examination. As such, Women wearing the veils are required to unveil to be photographed. During public school routine, the students gain no special attention from the fellow students and instructors until the examination period arrives. The unveiling of students has brought onwards hot debates with some professionals advocating for the use of fingerprints, rather than forcing students in veils to unveil. Due to the numerous terrorist attacks being executed primarily in Middle Eas t by veiled persons, a negative perception has been made to various persons across the globe. As such, veiled persons are not fully accepted by the public, while locomotion or doing shopping. This has brought forth numerous debates on the wearing of body covering dressing, which hinders facial recognition. Despite health check personnel wearing masks, they do receive appreciation from the public. As such, request for unveiling women is observed as discrimination against them. Additionally, in the case of an outbreak of flu, patients are allowed to enter business premises without any restriction, which brings in the question as to who should be allowed to wear veils, and under what circumstances. The wearing of veils in the American society receives different recognition. For example, in areas where veiled women have participated in terrorist activities, veiled women usually find themselves discriminated. This is argued to be a refutation strategy because it is argued that they can partake terrorist activities, which would have adverse effects on the society at large. In regions beyond the American borders, for example, inAfghanistan, veiled women were used to bomb the American soldiers deployed to restore peace and governmental stability. The wearing of veils is recognized as a means of oppression mostly among female Muslims. Therefore, the women are observed to be voice little and are controlled by the doctrines of Islam. Although this applies to a significant percentage of women in Muslim world, it is not applicable to all Muslim women in America. Oppression is usually linked with low levels of education the less educated persons usually lack knowledge on their rights, as well as what they should do when their rights are violated. Therefore, since a significant per

Organizational Behavior - Case Study ExampleThe reason wherefore she is salutary liked is not because she is just nice. Jennifer is well liked because people just knew they could count on her and thus making her popular. She also has manifested traits of leadership beginning on the early days of his career which intend that her leadership skills are genuine and is not a pretension just to get the post. Her leadership achievements include helping to form the first union, getting grants, writing skits for the faculty clubs annual follies, and going out of her bearing to befriend everyone who needed support. In addition, she also has an inexorable source of energy which is essential for leaders. She also knew the university well having built her career there. She was the President of the Faculty Senate and served as vice president for 10 years and handled unmanageable issues such as academic complaints and overseeing several committees.Jennifer however is not the perfect candidate for the position because she lacked distant experience and her capability could also be the source of her weakness. Essentially, Jennifer Treeholms experience only revolved just about Mid West University. This means that she lack the diversity of experience and exposure to the professional world. She is also exceedingly close to her peers which may not work well when she becomes President because it may cloud her objectivity campaign the danger of playing favorites. Their every-Friday-night watering hole is also not healthy if she becomes President because it would be considered opposed for a university president to be on a drinking binge with her subordinates.Weighing Jennifer Treeholms strength against her weakness however still does not make her a lesser option or a bad option for the post. Her weakness can be easily overcome if she chose to. She has a Ph.D and most belike knows that being too close to a one group of people is not good in particular if they are their subo rdinates. She

Construction Safety - Assignment ExampleThe bearing problems and stress overloading that resulted into the failure of the duet were part of the management faults since through proper design the situation could micturate been rectified. The collapse could consent also been caused by faults during construction as a result of workers overlooking whatever important issues regarding to construction safety. There were some concerns on the safety of the bridge before the project started. The keep company had a lot of financial constraints before the project started. Kranakis (2004) argues that the government was not willing to part with larger-than-life sums of money at that time and hence the safety issues became overlooked due to an exorbitant budget. The company til now went ahead with the construction despite its financial conditions that could not have allowed the construction of the project. These were all calculated tender-hearted errors that led to the collapse of the final project.According to the Cleveland State University (n,d), system theory is aimed at controlling and preventing the hazards. This is do through identifying the interactions between components rather than the failures of the components which include the non technical elements of the system. In the case of the Quebec bridge collapse the elements make up the bridge were not in harmony to create safety. The environmental conditions might have abnormal the bridge leading to swinging beyond the stress limits provided. This might have been caused by poor conjoin or jointing between the various parts making the bridge. The bridge design might not have been designed to carry the total weight of the bridge or the deporting beams used to strengthen and support the bridge may have failed due to unforeseen circumstances. It could also have happened that part of the ground that the bridge was elected yielded due to weight leading to the collapse.Kranakis (2004) explains that the design drawin gs and the plans

Risk Appraisal and Remediation of Oil-contaminated systems Dissertation
Risk Appraisal and Remediation of Oil-contaminated systems - Dissertation ExampleThe main purpose of the finis of both the risk posed to the receptors and the extent of that side was mainly achieved through background research and inborn data accrual, the development of a conceptual site model (CSM) describing the pollution linkages and the risk values reason by using the reduced instruction set computer4 software. Through the conceptual site model and software dropd in the demeanour of the research, a number of important results were plunge. For instance some of the high risk receptors of the various risks that were posed were found to include workers of the company on board the vessel that crashed against the Bligh Reef, the marine animals in areas of 5,500 square meters (14,000km2), the water inwardly the area of 5,500 square meters (14,000km2) and air within 5,500 square meters around the spill. Again, the quantitative results turned out an median(a) risk of 5.2E+02. Hav ing identified the pollution linkage and the risk posed to receptors, one of the core objectives of the research was therefore to identify curative actions that are necessary in reducing the possible harm that receptors may receive. break through of the discussions, it became clear that a well coordinated risk assessment held the key in preventing the disaster. On the early(a) hand, key factors like the fact that the Bligh Reef, which was the site of the disaster had a number of environmental conditions such as the presence of plant forest and high tidal activities, which were either sources of the accident. The fate of the crude crude oil, which includes the ability of the oil to evaporate and undergo volatilisation also accounted for the degree of harm that was caused because the air became highly polluted. Several pathways which included both active and passive pathways also made it possible for the hazard to reach receptors, which included human receptors and environmental receptors. In order to curtail the intensity of the harm that receptors may get from the spill the use of readiness as a remediation strategy is suggested. This is because it helps in further spread of spilled oil to nearby sources. For all future oil transportation, it is recommended that a technology based risk assessment models such as reduced instruction set computing 4 be used to get a better idea of the levels of risks that exists so that appropriate remedial measures will be taken in relation to the identified risks. Keywords Risk assessment, fate, receptors, contaminants, transport pathway, oil spill, RISC 4 Table of Contents Introduction 6 Historical Background 6 Natural environs of Prince William Sound 9 METHODOLOGY 17 Sources of Information 17 The present study was conducted following the soft research approach. Subsequently, a lot of secondary data were collected for analysis under the methodology parting of the paper. By secondary data, reference is being made to the fact that the data collected made use of existing data on the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. This was necessary to do because the data collected did not establish immediate access to primary data from the disaster grounds where first hand data collection could be collected. Noting the need to ensure a high quality paper that could be trusted as reliable and valid, the data collected ensured that only authentic academician sources of information were used. These included information from academic journal, books from the National Geographic Library and of course, internationally approved statistical websites. 17 Model used for entropy

Learning Theories Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 5000 words - 1
Learning Theories - Essay ExampleLearning Theories Learning involves various aspects, including motivation, environment, attitudes of learners, and other factors (Ryan, machinate & Tauer, 2010). In order to promote learning, teachers should look into the different aspects that affect learning. As a teacher, I impinge on to it that learners are well motivated, the environment is conducive for learning, students are relaxed and comfortable, and they receive enough time to rehearse and moderate the concepts or skills learned. Putting all these considerations together, I would say that I combine three approaches to learning. These approaches include behaviorism, constructivism, and cognitivism. However, I lay more emphasis on behaviorism because it guides me in my classroom management. There cannot be any learning if a classroom is not managed. Classroom management is one aspect that a behaviouristic teacher focuses on. Students have different personalities but when they come to sc hool, they act in uniformity according to the policies and regulations clan by the school and its teachers. Establishing classroom rules is thus the first step to a well-managed classroom. Teachers should make it a point in time to establish rules at the beginning of the year and have them posted. In particular, classroom rules may be memorized by students and recited as part of systems. Rules may be posted on the bulletin board to remind students of their responsibility. In terms of assignments, it is best to make contracts for parents or guardians to sign. There should be an assignment notebook where students will draw up all their assignments. The teacher signs the assignment page, whether it was completed or not, and students will ask their parents to countersign the page so as to monitor students effort in doing their assignments. Practicing routines is another beneficial aspect of the behaviorist classroom. Routines help to make students become organized individuals. Stude nts who learn routines in school will learn to keep a routine at home and eventually, in their professional field. With routines, performance and processes will be perfected. As part of quotidian routine, students should greet the teacher and their classmates, check attendance by counting off (each should be assigned a class number), recite classroom rules, and report current news. The reporting of current events should be done in turns, based on the class number. These routine activities are supposed to prepare students for the day ahead, and to condition them to extend the way they should in school. Setting the mood of students is a must in the behaviorist classroom. In every lesson, the teacher should always give students some idea on what to expect for the day. This gets the students in the mood for activities, games, etc. For example, if the teacher says, Today, we will play a game. The students will know how to behave or react, and they will respond accordingly to the situa tion. If some serious activities need to be accomplished, then the teacher could say,

External and Internal Environment Analysis Essay
External and Internal Environment Analysis - Essay faceIts different branches serve their respective localities. I will discuss the milieu of the branch that serves my community. External environmental Analysis External environment of Human-C atomic number 18 Organization consists of all those elements in the remote, industrial and remote operating environment that impact upon the design of its strategic plans and define its competitive position in the commercialise. The environmental variables or these elements are important to identify here. In the remote environment, or so important are the technological and legal forces that essential be dealt with quite efficiently and changes in whom must be kept track of to reach legal strategic options to a enigma. Changes in the technological world define the competitive situation of this nerve thusly it places great stress upon learning and implementing new technologies that help the organization bring together its clients and l egal proceeds providers on a col graspative platform. In the industrial environment, the most important factors affecting this organization are the competitors and the potential entrants in this business. The organization has to keep constant check on the changes occurring in the competitive market so that such decisions should be made that keep the organization at par with its competitors. Internal Environment Analysis Just like external environment, the organization gives great importance to its innate environment and lays out such strategic plans that guarantee that all internal factors are working properly and in nice coordination. Internal environment is defined as the conditions, entities, events, and factors at heart an organization that influence its activities and choices, particularly the behavior of the employees (WebFinance, Inc, 2011). fork out control - Movie Review ExampleThe cost of sustaining the use of hitchs is clearly evident and younger women, especially those in colleges cannot afford it. This can be a barrier to the womens choice of contraceptive method. apt(p) the extent to which contraceptives argon important to women, more so college women, the government has an obligation to fund the low-cost extradite control for college women. This will enable most women to access to birth control services at comparatively low costs. As a result, there will be a reduction in the cases of ignorant pregnancies which often lead to abortions. In response to the post by the student, I agree with her that women need to shroud the use of contraceptives. The benefits of using contraceptives are very evident for those who choose to use it. However, it is also very real that the cost of sustaining contraceptives limits many women to adopt its usage. For this reason, the government needs to come with other options to ensu re that most women are able to access this critical wellness care. Including approved contraceptive methods in most health redress cover is one step in the right direction to ensure that women have access to contraceptive methods that are suitable for them. I strongly agree with her that there should be no politics just about such a critical subject as contraception since it is a matter that touches on the health of
